What Resolution?

Although 1080p is the bigger resolution, you should consider 720p sets, too. You don't get any broadcasts that are 1080p right now, but Blu-Ray HD disks have that resolution. Whether this is going to make any difference, depends on the quality of the set, too.

Other Considerations

You need to consider viewing angle, when you buy a set. Sets have gotten much better about this lately, but you don't want to have to sit directly in front of the set to enjoy it. Another thing you want to think about is convenience. Larger sets have a single cable that connects to the set. Certainly there are other things, which might be of interest to you, but this covers the basics.
